Disney+ said on Oct. 22 that The Pursuit: F1 Academy, a documentary about the all-female racing series, debuts globally on Nov. 19.
The debut lands on the first day of Formula 1’s Las Vegas Grand Prix weekend, which runs Nov. 19 to 21. Disney added that ESPN’s app will carry it too later this year, without giving a date.
What the special covers
F1 Academy is the series Formula 1 launched to develop young women and prepare them for higher levels of motorsport. According to Disney+, the special follows the 2025 season and gives behind-the-scenes access to four named drivers: Doriane Pin, Maya Weug, Chloe Chambers and Alisha Palmowski.
It was filmed at race locations on the 2025 calendar. Disney says it shows race weekends and moments away from the track, and treats ambition, persistence and representation in a traditionally male-dominated sport. It also includes the teams and leadership behind the series, among them managing director Susie Wolff.
Who made it
The special is produced in association with ESPN. Disney calls it the latest piece of “Fuel the Magic,” its multi-year tie-up with Formula 1 and F1 Academy. The tie-up was first shown at the Chinese Grand Prix this year, then widened at the Canadian race to take in F1 Academy, fronted by the characters Minnie Mouse and Daisy Duck.
Wolff said in the announcement that “every driver” on the grid “is pursuing a dream.”
Where to watch The Pursuit: F1 Academy
Disney says the special streams exclusively on Disney+ globally on Nov. 19, and the where-to-watch box lists the same date for the United States and the United Kingdom. The announcement does not give a release time, a running time or an episode count, and it does not say whether the ESPN App date will differ by country. We will update the page when Disney gives more detail.
What happens next
The next step is the debut on Thursday, Nov. 19. An ESPN App date has not been announced. For other recent streaming dates, see our Tantara premiere story and the Possible Love release date.
