Prime Video said on Friday, Oct. 23 that its unscripted competition series Fallout Shelter: The Experiment premieres Wednesday, Jan. 13, 2027.

Prime Video made the announcement on Fallout Day. The season has ten episodes: four on the first day, then three episodes a week through Jan. 27, according to Prime Video. That puts the second batch on Jan. 20 and the finale batch on Jan. 27.

What the show is

Prime Video describes a reality competition that places everyday participants in Vault-Tec shelters, bomb-proof vault shelters. Over the season they go through drills, psychological dilemmas and behavior trials, and one “special dweller” wins $1 million.

Studio Lambert makes the series with Kilter Films, and Bethesda Game Studios is credited as an associate. Studio Lambert’s executive producers include Stephen Lambert, Tim Harcourt and Amina Badresingh. Kilter Films’ Jonathan Nolan, Lisa Joy and Athena Wickham are executive producers, as are Bethesda’s James Altman and Todd Howard. The announcement did not name a host or any contestants.

Where and when to watch

Prime Video said the show will stream only on its own service, in more than 240 countries and territories. That covers both the US and the UK, and the announcement did not split the date by country. The where-to-watch box shows the same date for each, and we will correct it if Prime Video gives a different UK date.

The announcement does not give a release time. So the US and UK times for each drop are not yet known.

How it connects to Fallout

The series is separate from the scripted Fallout drama, which Kilter Films makes for Amazon. The same press release states the drama’s second season returned on Dec. 17, 2025, that it passed 100 million viewers worldwide across its first two seasons in March 2026, and that season three is in production. The release also says Bethesda’s mobile game Fallout Shelter has more than 230 million downloads.

Other release announcements from the desk this week include Netflix’s Tantara, Disney+’s F1 Academy documentary The Pursuit and Xbox’s new games for next week.

What happens next

Episodes 1 to 4 arrive on Wednesday, Jan. 13, 2027. The announcement names no cast and no time of day for the release.
