Netflix has set Nov. 10 for the worldwide premiere of The Devil’s Plan: Dead Again, the third season of its Korean strategy competition, and released the main trailer on Tuesday.
The company said 16 players compete for a single championship. Jang Dongmin, who Netflix says holds a record of five consecutive survival-show wins, leads the field. Nine other veterans of the format are back: John Park, Hyun Kyunglyul, Yurisa, XITSUH, Kim Dong-jae, Jeong Hyun-gyu, Ha Seok-jin, Oh Hyunmin and Hong Jinho. Six newcomers complete the roster: Jung Wonyoung, whom Netflix calls a hidden powerhouse, plus SHINDONG, JAE JAE, Nucksal, Yi Do and Stella Jang. Jung Jong-yeon is the producer.
What changes this season
Netflix said the first two seasons removed a player automatically once their Pieces ran out. That no longer happens: a player’s fate now depends only on the outcome of the matches. The company said the change lets players move more freely between the Living Area and the Prison Area, which it described as restricted in past seasons, and opens the door to more aggressive play.
According to Netflix, the trailer shows Jang Dongmin facing Jeong Hyun-gyu, the season 2 champion. Some players seek alliances with Jang while others target him. Jung Wonyoung is shown setting his sights on splitting the “Jang-Oh” alliance between Jang and Oh Hyunmin. Netflix also described a tearful Oh Hyunmin as a sign of a ruthless arena with no easy targets.
When and where to watch
Netflix says the season premieres worldwide on Nov. 10, only on Netflix. It has not said what time it will be released or how many episodes there are, and it has not given separate US or UK dates.
For other Netflix premieres, see the Song Hye-kyo and Gong Yoo series Tantara, Lee Chang-dong’s Possible Love and the Diwali family film Dilwali Diwali.
The next step is the premiere on Nov. 10.
